This beautiful Grade II listed building with its own chapel, enclosed cloisters, marriage room and exquisite function rooms stand proudly within delightful, landscaped gardens, set in Westgate on Sea, Thanet, Kent. Whatever your special occasion St. Augustine’s provides the perfect setting, superbly complemented by impeccable service and gourmet cuisine.

The imposing exterior façade of St. Augustine’s is enhanced by its elegant interior. Antique furnishings, ornate plaster works, magnificent chandeliers, comfortable Chesterfield sofas and Italian inlay tables create a refinement and ambience rarely found.

The outside of the building makes for quite an impressive site, however its nothing compared to the sights that await you inside the building. St Augustines have a couple of private rooms that they are more than happy to let brides make use of for getting themselves and the bridesmaids ready in.

“Our specially designed Bride’s room with panoramic mirrors is available for your use all day where you can relax on our Chesterfield settees in privacy and comfort. This room is code-lockable and can be used to store all your presents and personal belongings: overnight storage may also be arranged.”

The magnificent French-style Chapel at St Augustine’s was built in the early 1900’s and contains 350-year-old carvings from Paris; not only creating an impressive setting for your blessing, but ensuring an unforgettable occasion. The Chapel at St Augustines is absolutely stunning, and is just perfect for your blessing. I got the distinct impression from the venue that they do not mind you using conffetti in just about any part of the building, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful

In the evening, the pews are removed from the chapel and the impressive chapel is turned into a banqueting hall. It is stunningly lit by uplighters dotted around the venue, and is dark enough to give a nice atmosphere, but not so dark as you cant see your fellow diners. From my time at the venue, food has been served pretty quickly, with an army of catering assistants bringing out the food in a very timely manner. Everyone looks smart and well presented, and again the staff are very friendly and helpful.

 

All in all, St Augustines is a hidden gem of the Thanet wedding scene, and well worth going to see. If your party isnt big enough to command the Chapel, then they have a smaller room which is available to hire out.

“You may choose to have your civil wedding in our Chapel, Drawing Room, Ruby Room, Oak Room, Amber Room, Board Room or Gazebo. The ceremony may be followed by a blessing in our own chapel and your wedding breakfast in one of our exquisite function rooms, which can accommodate between 10 and 200 guests.”
